CTA 1775 Locking Lug Bolt Remover Kit

- (2) Special ultra-hard drills with tungsten carbide tips
- (4) Extractors
- (1) Impact extractor holder
- (1) Impact extractor remover
Step 1: Preparation
- Safety First: Ensure the vehicle is secured on jack stands or lift.
- Protect the Wheel: Select the correct centering guide (nylon or metal) to protect the wheel from damage and ensure proper alignment.
- Position the Guide: Place the centering guide securely the wheel lug bolt cavity. Ensure it is snug and correctly aligned to prevent misalignment during drilling.
Step 2: Drilling
- Select the Drill Bit: Use the tungsten carbide-tipped drill bit from the kit.
- Attach the Drill Bit: Securely attach the drill bit to a power drill.
- Drill the Lug Bolt: Carefully drill into the center of the lug bolt, using the centering guide to maintain alignment. Apply steady, even pressure while drilling.
- Note: Avoid excessive force to prevent drill bit breakage or wheel damage.
- Important: Do not operate the drill without the centering guide, as this may cause misalignment or damage.
- Drill Until Complete: Continue drilling until the proper depth is achieved (as demonstrated in the video or product manual). Link: CTA 1775 Lug Driller Demo Video
Step 3: Extraction
- Insert the Extractor: Select the extractor from the kit and insert it into the drilled hole.
- Attach the Impact Extractor Holder: Place the impact extractor holder onto the extractor.
- Hammer the Extractor Holder until the Extractor Bit is fulling inserted into lug bolt.
- Use an Impact Wrench: Attach a wrench to the extractor holder (17mm Hex).
- Remove the Lug Bolt: Activate the wrench in a counterclockwise direction to extract the damaged or locking lug bolt from the wheel.
Step 4: Post-Extraction
- Remove the Extractor: Use the impact extractor remover to detach the extracted lug bolt from the extractor.
- Clean Up: Remove the centering guide and inspect the wheel and hub for any signs of damage.
- Dispose of the Lug Bolt: Discard the damaged lug bolt and prepare to replace it with a new one.
Tips & Warnings
- Use the Correct Guides: Always use the centering guides to avoid wheel damage or drill bit oscillation.
- Avoid Excessive Force: Let the drill and extractor do the work. Forcing the tools can result in damage or breakage.
- Protective Gear: Wear safety glasses and gloves during the process.
By following these steps, you can safely and effectively remove damaged, stripped, or locking lug bolts in approximately 8-13 minutes per wheel.
